Why do we do Pilates?

Thoughts from Marguerite

Let’s ponder on Joseph Pilates’s basic principles of -

His approach to whole body health and whole body commitment embraces the application of mind, body and spirit.  Thus I often say “mind body control”. This rings so true for me as we adopt our practise, enjoying the benefits of a more functional framework within which to exist to fulfil our daily lives.

Also let’s celebrate increased muscle strength and tone, improved flexibility, balance and alignment. We at Sublime Pilates are about functional and integrative movement and empowering you to enjoy your own personal growth.

We age from the time we are born, and in this day and time we talk often about the younger generation and the lack of joy in movement, the constant focus on hand held devices and postural issues. We need to counteract this - but we also need to be aware of our own succumbing to these same traits!

Ageing is part of the process of growth, of acknowledging maturity and allowing ourselves to be elders in our community.  This is my passion, as you all know, and I feel privileged to work with such amazing clients to share our stories, the histories within our own bodies, and embrace all of Mr Pilates’ principals.  We will all stand taller.

I do Pilates because, quoting Joseph Pilates -

Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”

Make it stand out
